Kim Han-gil, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on National Integration, said on the 15th, "If I were to describe a common emotion that women feel throughout their lives, it seems to be anxiety," adding, "One of the focuses of our committee's efforts is how to minimize all anxieties such as dating violence, stalking, various sexual crimes, and career interruptions."

Chairman Kim made these remarks during his opening speech at the '2024 National Integration Conference' held at the Royal Park Convention Park Hall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the afternoon.

He stated, "Although we pursue gender equality, women remain socially vulnerable in our society," and added, "When asked whether women are recognized for their dignity and value as human beings, or whether their right to pursue happiness is properly guaranteed, our reality is that it is not easy to answer these questions."

Chairman Kim also said, "The intention of today's conference is to help women in our society regain their rightful place."

The conference was held under the theme "A Future Created Together with Women through Empathy, Coexistence, and Solidarity." Participants presented and discussed two main topics: women's career interruptions and family caregiving, as well as deepfakes and women's safety.

The discussion included Kim Eun-mi, Chair of the Planning and Coordination Committee of the Integration Committee; Hwang Seong-hye, Vice President of Johnson & Johnson Korea; Lee Soo-jung, Professor of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University; and Park Eun-joo, Editor at Chosun Ilbo.

Dr. Kim Ji-yoon, who delivered the keynote speech, said, "Our goal is a world of equality where no one is discriminated against based on gender or income," emphasizing, "We must move away from conflict-driven rhetoric that involves gaining or losing something and find values of integration that satisfy both women and men."
