SK Hynix, Excellence Award for Industry-Academia Research Project Inventions... "Continuous Strengthening of R&D Capabilities"

Award Ceremony at Icheon Headquarters, Gyeonggi-do on the 15th
Professor Park Jong-seon of Korea University, Inventor of 'Memory Computation Error Correction', Wins Grand Prize

On the 15th, SK Hynix held the '12th Industry-Academia Research Project Excellent Invention Award' ceremony at its headquarters in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province.

This award ceremony recognizes outstanding inventions among patents filed during the execution of research projects conducted in collaboration between SK Hynix and universities. It has been held annually since 2013. This year, a total of five awards were selected, including one Grand Prize, one Excellence Award, and three Encouragement Awards.


The Grand Prize was awarded to Professor Park Jong-seon of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Korea University for his invention that corrects errors during computational functions inside memory. The Excellence Award went to Professor Kim Min-hyuk of the School of Computing at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), who contributed to improving the accuracy of Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors that measure the distance to objects using cameras. The Encouragement Awards were given to Professor Cho Nam-ik of the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at Seoul National University, Professor Oh Il-kwon of the Department of Intelligent Semiconductor Engineering at Ajou University, and Professor Ryu Seung-tak of the Department of Electrical Engineering at KAIST.


Cha Seon-yong, Vice President in charge of the Future Technology Research Institute at SK Hynix, stated, "In the rapidly changing computing environment, including the diversification of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, establishing a robust R&D collaboration ecosystem is essential to secure future technological capabilities.
