Since 2016, ‘Welfare Do Dream Day’ has been organized for low-income vulnerable groups in eup and myeon areas with limited access to welfare services. The project selects beneficiaries according to monthly themes and supports them with daily necessities packages and welfare counseling.
From the 13th to the 20th, daily necessities will be delivered to 72 households living in poor conditions such as one-room apartments, containers, and vinyl greenhouses. The daily necessities package consists of 2kg of rice donated by the Paju City Hope Food Market, and with support from the Community Chest of Korea, includes food items such as Samgyetang and Gomtang, as well as winter blankets or electric mats, totaling six items.
The customized welfare team in each eup and myeon will visit the beneficiary households together with village heads and members of the local community security council who are familiar with the area to deliver the items and provide welfare counseling.
This year, through the Welfare Do Dream Day project, daily necessities were provided to 726 households. In addition to material support, the project achieved results including 35 cases of beneficiary selection through welfare counseling, 82 cases of livelihood and housing support, 8 cases of private resource linkage, and 130 cases of continuous welfare checks.
Kim Hyun-wook, Director of the Welfare Policy Division, said, “We hope that a little warmth will be delivered to local residents in need during the cold winter,” and added, “I hope this year-end will be a time of happiness for oneself and neighbors through sharing and caring for those around us.”
Paju City plans to conduct a satisfaction survey upon completion of this year’s project and reflect the collected opinions in next year’s project plan to promote qualitative development and improvement of the project. If you discover neighbors in need of support, please contact the customized welfare team of your eup or myeon or the Welfare Policy Division of Paju City Hall.
