This evaluation was conducted as an early-maturing variety cultivation test, where three varieties developed by the National Institute of Crop Science under the Rural Development Administration (Seolbaek, Wolbaek, Saeodae No.1) and Hitomebore were blind-tasted by Yeoju Mayor, Yeoju City Council Chairman and council members, Yeoju Rice Research Association, agricultural organizations, and the NongHyup, followed by a preference survey.

Mayor Lee Chung-woo, who participated in the event, stated, “We will spare no support for evaluations and test cultivations to produce high-quality Yeoju rice.”

The varieties used in the early-maturing cultivation tests were directly managed by Yeoju City, including growth surveys and on-site evaluations by farmers.

Kim Young-shin, head of the Crop Research Team, said, “This rice taste evaluation meeting is an opportunity to understand the practical demands of farmers.” Jeon Chang-hyun, head of the Technology Extension Division, added, “Based on today’s results, we will design test cultivations and introduce early-maturing varieties adapted to the Yeoju region.”
