2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Congress Organizing Committee General Assembly Held

The Organizing Committee's First Step Since Launch to Successfully Host International Events

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 15th that it held the Organizing Committee General Assembly on the 14th at El Tower in Yangjae-dong with the 2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Congress Organizing Committee.

This general assembly was the first step since the launch of the Organizing Committee, attended by about 70 people including Lee Dong-hwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, Ham Jin-gyu, President of Korea Expressway Corporation, Lee Woo-je, Director of the Road Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Kim Sung-hwan, President of REAAA, Lee Sun-ha, Chairman of the PIARC Korea Committee, as well as major construction and design companies.

The assembly, chaired by the co-chairs of the 2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Congress Organizing Committee (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City and President Ham Jin-gyu of Korea Expressway Corporation), proceeded with reports on progress regarding ▲the composition and launch of the Organizing Committee ▲the theme of the international event ▲the formation of the technical subcommittee, followed by deliberations on key agenda items including ▲the schedule and detailed plans (draft) for the road congress ▲detailed operational plans (draft) for the venue and accommodation facilities.

Goyang Special City and Korea Expressway Corporation plan to jointly host the ‘2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Congress’ under the theme ‘Future Roads: Hyper-connection’ at KINTEX in Goyang Special City for six days from October 26 to 31, 2025.

The ‘2025 Goyang Asia-Pacific Road Congress’ will simultaneously hold large-scale international conferences and exhibitions including the Asia-Pacific Road Engineering Association (REAAA) Conference, the World Road Association (PIARC) Annual Meeting, and the Road Traffic Expo (ROTREX).

The event is scheduled to introduce and promote new technologies in the road sector and hold expert meetings in road technology, expected to become a networking platform where more than 5,000 road technology experts from over 70 countries worldwide will gather to share various topics facing future roads.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang said, "To ensure the successful hosting of the event, we will continue to maintain a close cooperative relationship with our co-host, Korea Expressway Corporation, and make thorough preparations for the optimal conference environment.”

He added, "I hope that through the successful hosting of this international road event in Goyang Special City, about 10 years after the World Road Congress held in Seoul in 2015, the international status of Goyang Special City will be elevated once again.”

Meanwhile, after the general assembly, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City and Lee Woo-je, Director of the Road Bureau at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, held a separate meeting to continue discussions on major pending issues in the road sector of Goyang Special City.
