The "Baegunsan Fermentation Village Dongchimi Village," promoted as a public-private partnership project between Gwangyang City and MBN, is a project to create an experiential travel destination where visitors can cultivate their own small gardens and learn to make fermented foods against the beautiful natural backdrop of Baegunsan.
According to the study results, various spaces for experiencing fermentation culture will be established in Dongchimi Village. A "Fermentation Academy" will also be operated to enhance understanding of fermented foods and provide know-how through experience and education. Additionally, there is a marketing plan to develop "Dongchimi Village" as Gwangyang City's fermented food brand and to sell fermented foods produced in Gwangyang domestically and internationally.
Based on the basic plan derived from this study, the city plans to sign a business agreement by the end of this month and accelerate the full-scale project implementation.
Mayor Jeong In-hwa of Gwangyang said, "Dongchimi Village will be a warm village where tradition and nature harmonize, bringing together urban and rural areas in one place," and added, "We will do our best to establish Dongchimi Village as a representative local attraction and to invigorate the local community."
