Shinsegae Centum City Hosts 'Jjanggu is Traveling' Pop-up Event

Shinsegae Centum City will hold a pop-up store featuring the globally popular character 'Jjanggu' from the 15th to the 24th.

The animation 'Crayon Shin-chan,' aired in 45 countries worldwide, features 5-year-old Jjanggu as the main character and deals with familiar everyday themes, making it beloved by people of all ages.


At the main venue, the event hall on the basement first floor of the department store, over 1,000 products including Busan limited edition goods will be showcased. On the third floor, in the passage connecting the department store and the mall, a photo zone has been set up where visitors can create special memories with Jjanggu.


This pop-up, themed 'Jjanggu is Traveling,' is held with the concept of Jjanggu and his friends traveling across the country, including Seoul and Daegu, and has become a hot topic. Especially, the Jjanggu pop-up set in Busan by Shinsegae has attracted hundreds of customers from the opening day, gaining even more attention.


First, Jjanggu goods and activities enjoying Busan’s representative attractions and foods are raising expectations among 'Jjangdeok' (Jjanggu fans). Notably, limited edition mood lamps themed on Gwangalli Beach (24,900 KRW), Busan-themed acrylic stand keyrings (4,300 KRW), and ready bags (small travel bags, 29,900 KRW) are prepared, along with stationery, cushions, dolls, and food-related products.


Additionally, all customers visiting the goods shop will receive a Busan limited edition sticker, customers who purchase over 30,000 KRW will get random goods, and those who spend over 70,000 KRW will be given a Jjanggu keyring transformed into a Jagalchi Market vendor on a first-come, first-served basis.


Moreover, on the third-floor connecting passage, a Jjanggu photo zone has been set up where families, friends, and couples can leave memories. It captures the local atmosphere with various concepts featuring Busan’s representative spots and foods such as Gwangalli Beach, Jagalchi Market, Busan International Film Festival, pork soup, and seed hotteok.


A game starring Jjanggu’s best friend and pet dog 'Hindungi' is also available. The Nintendo Switch new release 'Hindungi of the Mining Village,' which caused a big sensation when it was newly released in May, will be sold at the event venue in front of the subway connection entrance on the basement second floor. Limited edition goods such as 'Reusable Bags (2 types)' and 'Mining Hindungi Blanket' will also be offered, along with events like a game experience zone and photo card creation.


Park Soon-min, Executive Director of Shinsegae Centum City, said, “This year, pop-up stores utilizing IPs such as Hello Kitty, SpongeBob, and Yangpakungya are gaining great popularity,” adding, “We will continue to provide special shopping experiences through immersive content.”
