Professor Donggyu Lee of Dong-A University Transfers Technology for 'Disaster Safety Smart Guidance Service System Using Beacons'

Saint KR Collaborates with Dong-A University for Technology Commercialization

Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) announced on the 15th that Professor Lee Dong-gyu of the Department of Police Science (Graduate School of Disaster Management, JA Faculty) has transferred the technology of the ‘Disaster Safety Smart Guidance Service System Using Beacon’ to ‘Saint KR’.

The transferred technology utilizes beacon technology, which is based on low-power Bluetooth technology and location-based services within a specific area, designed to deliver real-time safety information to users in the event of a disaster.

A ‘Beacon’ is a short-range wireless communication device based on the Bluetooth 4.0 protocol, capable of locating users within a radius of 50 to 70 meters to send messages, enable mobile payments, and more.

With this technology transfer, Saint KR plans to commercialize Professor Lee Dong-gyu’s technology in collaboration with Dong-A University. This holds significant meaning as it applies research and development outcomes to industry, creating social value.

Notably, this technology transfer is the third following ‘Smart Evacuation Guidance System Using Augmented Reality and Context-Aware Algorithms’ and ‘Big Data-Based Disaster Prediction and Detection Platform’ by Professor Lee Dong-gyu. This transfer signifies an innovative advancement in the regional disaster safety sector and is expected to lead to further research and development.

Professor Lee Dong-gyu stated, “I expect that Saint KR, with its expertise, will play a crucial role in commercializing the beacon safety smart system to protect citizens’ safety during disasters,” adding, “Going forward, we will encourage research on technology forecasting and technology roadmaps to ensure that the research outcomes of the Graduate School of Disaster Management at Dong-A University and the Emergency Response Technology Policy Research Center can be applied to industry, accelerating innovation in the disaster safety field.”

Currently, the Graduate School of Disaster Management at Dong-A University is producing talented individuals with experience and expertise in disaster management and safety, and the research capabilities of the Emergency Response Technology Policy Research Center are recognized as having a significant impact on the development of disaster management systems.
