Both Companies Undergo Generational Change to Overcome Construction Industry Crisis and Improve Structure

Hanwoo Lee Appointed as New CEO of Hyundai Construction

On the 15th, Hyundai Construction announced the appointment of Vice President Lee Han-woo, a '30-year construction veteran,' as the new CEO. President Joo Woo-jung, known as a 'financial expert,' was appointed as the new CEO of Hyundai Engineering. Both companies have implemented a generational change to overcome the crisis caused by the construction industry downturn and to fundamentally improve their organizational structure.

Vice President Lee, who will newly lead Hyundai Construction, was previously the head of the Housing Business Division at Hyundai Construction. Through this appointment, he was promoted to vice president and will assume the CEO position. Born in 1970, he graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Architectural Engineering and joined Hyundai Construction in 1994. He has held positions such as Head of Strategic Planning and Head of the Housing Business Division, gaining extensive field experience as well as expertise in strategy and planning.

A Hyundai Construction official stated, "Vice President Lee plans to diversify the global portfolio across all business divisions, including civil engineering and plants, by enhancing EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) capabilities, and to lead a paradigm shift within the industry through strategic investment expansion focused on the energy sector."

Joo Woo-jung, Newly Appointed CEO of Hyundai Engineering

President Joo, who will take charge of Hyundai Engineering's management, is a former head of finance at Kia and was promoted to president and appointed CEO through this personnel change. He is recognized as a leading financial expert within the group and is considered a key figure who contributed to Kia's best-ever performance since its founding. Born in 1964, he graduated from Sogang University with a degree in Economics and served as Head of Financial Management and Head of Business Management at Hyundai Steel.

A Hyundai Engineering official stated, "Through this appointment, we plan to accelerate the overall organizational restructuring to overcome Hyundai Engineering's poor performance and strengthen corporate competitiveness."
