Daehan Electric Wire & Cable announced on the 15th that it had secured this project commissioned by Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. The project involves connecting the Goseong Natural Gas Power Plant and the Singoseong Substation in Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, with a 345kV ultra-high voltage underground power grid. Daehan Electric Wire & Cable will carry out the entire power grid construction process, from manufacturing ultra-high voltage cables and power equipment to transportation, laying, and electrical work.

The project is significant as it applies ultra-long length technology for the first time in Korea. Ultra-long length refers to producing and laying cables over 1 km in length at once, which is a highly challenging technology that more than doubles the conventional average cable length of around 500 meters used in Korea. Korea South-East Power decided to adopt this method domestically to catch up with advanced overseas technologies.

By applying this technology, it is possible to construct the entire power grid section with a single cable without the need for intermediate joint boxes to connect cables. This eliminates the need for intermediate joints, reducing production and construction costs, shortening construction periods, and increasing construction efficiency. Additionally, it lowers the probability of faults, thereby improving the stability of power supply.

Daehan Electric Wire & Cable cited its track record in Singapore as the background for winning this contract. This large-scale project involved constructing a 400kV ultra-high voltage power grid?the highest voltage in Singapore?within a power duct, with cable lengths reaching approximately 1.9 km, qualifying as an ultra-long length project. Daehan Electric Wire & Cable successfully completed this project, which lasted three years from 2016, earning recognition for its ultra-long length technology both domestically and internationally.

A representative from Daehan Electric Wire & Cable stated, "Ultra-long length power grids are a method expanding mainly among advanced countries, and it will be applicable to various domestic and international projects in the future, creating more business opportunities. We will continue to develop technologies optimized for customer and field demands to enhance our global contract competitiveness while increasing corporate and shareholder value."
