Samsung SDI has demonstrated the technological prowess of its various PRiMX batteries, including those for electric vehicles, ESS (Energy Storage Systems), and cylindrical batteries.


Samsung SDI announced that it received four 'CES Innovation Awards' ahead of 'CES 2025,' the world's largest electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, next January. This marks Samsung SDI's first time exhibiting products at CES, achieving the distinction of having representative products from all battery business sectors win awards.


The Innovation Awards are given annually to products that showcase innovative technology in the industry, as evaluated by a panel of judges. Samsung SDI received high marks for performance aspects directly related to customer experience, such as improved energy density, enhanced safety, high output, and fast charging technology, earning the Innovation Awards.


The awarded Samsung SDI products are four items: 'PRiMX680-EV,' 'PRiMX680 Module+,' 'SBB (Samsung Battery Box) 1.5,' and 'PRiMX50U-Power.'


First, the 'PRiMX680-EV' is a prismatic battery for electric vehicles that achieves high energy density by using high-nickel NCA (Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum) cathode materials. It applies innovative design and process technology to simultaneously ensure safety and performance. The 'PRiMX680 Module+' is an electric vehicle battery module that simplifies the structure by applying wireless communication technology, enhancing production efficiency and quality. This product also maximizes safety through unique module design and CT inspection.


The 'SBB 1.5' is an ESS product installed with battery cells, modules, and racks inside a 20-foot container box, ready for immediate use once connected to the power grid. It incorporates EDI (Enhanced Direct Injection, module-integrated direct injection) technology to prevent heat diffusion, thereby improving safety. The 'PRiMX50U-Power' is a 21700-size cylindrical battery that implements high output and fast charging technology, specialized for applications requiring instantaneous high power, such as professional power tools.
