Dongdaemun-gu Holds Visiting Meetings at Middle and High Schools... Initiates Tailored Education Policy Development

From September to October, visited 26 middle and high schools to gather opinions from school officials and parents
Reflected feedback from meetings and education support survey results for residents in education policy

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) conducted a "School Visit Meeting" over two months from September to October to innovate secondary education and operate customized education expense subsidies for demanders.

Following the parent meetings for elementary and middle schools held in early April, the district directly visited 26 middle and high schools in the area to listen to voices from the education field. Through communication with education demanders such as parents and teachers, the district checked the educational environment of each school and took time to hear various difficulties and suggestions.

During the meetings, a total of 143 diverse opinions were presented across seven areas for educational projects and environmental improvements, including school route safety issues, career experience and exploration programs, support for learning and activity spaces and facilities, academic improvement, and self-directed learning support.

Additionally, Dongdaemun-gu conducted a "Survey for Establishing the 2025 Education Expense Subsidy Support Plan" from August 29 to October 6 to improve the educational environment that local residents can feel.

The survey results showed that elementary schools prioritized basic literacy education and arts and physical education, middle schools emphasized career design programs and basic literacy education, and high schools highlighted career and college admission programs and self-directed learning support as urgent needs.

Based on the opinions gathered through this meeting and survey, Dongdaemun-gu plans to reflect them in education expense subsidy support and education policies.

Mayor Lee Pil-hyung stated, "It is important to develop students' thinking skills and physical strength so that they can not only study but also find and pursue what they want to do on their own," adding, "We will continuously improve Dongdaemun-gu's education policies by reflecting the diverse opinions of demanders."
