Busan Gijang-gun Secures Golden Time for Cardiovascular Emergency Patients... MOU Signed Among City and 3 Others

On the 15th, Four Organizations: Busan City, Gijang County, Southeast Regional Radiation Medical Center, and Seosaeng-myeon Residents' Council

Busan Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) will sign a four-party "Win-Win Agreement for the Establishment of a Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center" on the 15th at 3 p.m. at the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center, together with Busan City, the Seosaeng-myeon Residents' Council, and the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center.

The signing ceremony will be attended by about 60 people, including National Assembly members Jeong Dong-man and Seo Beom-su, Busan Deputy Mayor Lee Jun-seung, Busan City Council members Lee Seung-woo and Park Jong-cheol, Gijang-gun Governor Jeong Jong-bok, Gijang-gun Council Chairman Park Hong-bok, Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences Director Lee Jin-kyung, Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center Director Lee Chang-hoon, and representatives of local institutions and organizations.

This agreement mainly focuses on mutual cooperation among the signatory institutions and organizations to establish a cardiovascular and cerebrovascular center within the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center.

The goal is to secure the golden time for residents of Gijang-gun and Ulju-gun to receive prompt and specialized treatment in emergency situations and to provide early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

Once the center is established in the first half of 2026, it will be able to provide fast and specialized emergency medical services to local residents who are about an hour away from the existing regional cardiovascular and cerebrovascular centers.

In particular, the county views this agreement as a role model for regional win-win cooperation, where Busan Gijang area and Ulju Seosaeng area collaborate to build an essential local medical system.

The project to establish the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center at the Dongnam Regional Radiation Medical Center was launched in earnest after securing a total project cost of 5.3 billion KRW following budget approval by the Seosaeng-myeon Residents' Council last September.

Currently, the first subsidy has been granted, and the design for remodeling the operating room is underway. This month, contracts for purchasing essential equipment for operating the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular center will be signed, and by February 2025, the remodeling of the operating room and procurement of essential equipment will be completed, with the center expected to begin full operation in March next year.
