Gyeonggi Province will hold a semiconductor-related forum at the National Assembly.
On the 14th, Gyeonggi Province announced that on the 18th at 2 p.m., it will hold a forum at the National Assembly Library Auditorium attended by Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon, members of the Democratic Party Semiconductor Forum, semiconductor companies, and association officials.
Co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province, the Democratic Party Semiconductor Forum, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, and the Korea Fabless Industry Association, this event is expected to serve as a platform for discussing survival strategies in the semiconductor hegemony competition, comprehensive policy support for the mutual development of the semiconductor industry, and building consensus for the legislation of a special semiconductor law.
The first part of the event will feature the four co-hosting organizations, including Gyeonggi Province, signing a policy agreement on full-scale mutual cooperation to leap forward as a comprehensive semiconductor powerhouse.
The second part will include a presentation and discussion on the topic "Global Semiconductor Hegemony Competition and Korea's Semiconductor Industry Strategy" by Dr. Kim Yang-peng from the Korea Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade.
Park Jin-seop, Senior Vice Chairman of the Korea Semiconductor Display Industry Association, will chair the session, with experts such as Kim Kyung-soo, President of the Korea Fabless Industry Association, Tak Seung-soo, Head of Research Support at the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association, and Choi Ki-chang, Industry-University Cooperation Professor at Seoul National University, leading discussions on recent technological paradigm shifts including AI semiconductors, the outlook for the semiconductor industry, and policy recommendations.
The forum will be broadcast live online through Gyeonggi Province's official YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@ggholics).
Based on this National Assembly forum, Gyeonggi Province plans to spare no effort in providing comprehensive support for the development of the semiconductor industry in cooperation with the National Assembly, government, and local governments, positioning itself as a core strategic base of Korea's semiconductor industry and a global semiconductor hub.
