A couple in the United States, who had lived together for a long time before getting married, recently held their wedding ceremony with only five guests in attendance, drawing widespread attention.
According to the New York Post on the 13th (local time), Shane and Mari, a couple living in Oregon, USA, recently held a wedding ceremony to announce their marriage. However, they were shocked the moment they opened the doors of the venue and began their procession. Only five guests had come to celebrate their wedding, and the venue was almost empty. The two continued their lonely procession with their young son, their faces clearly showing their embarrassment.
According to the bride, Mari, the couple had lived together for nine years and decided to get married in 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to hold a wedding ceremony for a long time. Then, in January, they finally announced on social media that they would be getting married in October. Mari said, "We created a social media event and sent online invitations to more than 75 acquaintances," adding, "We also sent physical invitations to more than 25 people, including elderly people and those who do not use social media, so it was frustrating."
She also shared her feelings, saying, "'Why did this happen?' kept running through my mind. 'Am I such a bad person?' 'What on earth did my husband do for this to happen?' I couldn't get these thoughts out of my head." She continued, "It hurts even more because those I considered friends still haven't explained why they didn't come to the wedding," and added, "It's still an embarrassing and sad situation." Finally, the couple said, "Through this wedding, we clearly understood who truly cares about us," and "It made us reflect on our lives and be grateful for what we have."
Their wedding video went viral on the short-form platform TikTok, surpassing 8.6 million views and attracting significant attention online. Netizens who saw the video sent heartfelt congratulations, saying things like, "Now many more people are celebrating than just five," "I hope the couple, who must have been deeply hurt, can now be happy," and "Wishing you a happy life together."
