Shinsegae was recognized for its efforts in supporting future generations through scholarships and medical expense support for children with illnesses, sponsorship in the fields of culture, arts, and sports, as well as regional win-win activities based on its nationwide department store branches.

Shinsegae Receives Presidential Award at National Sharing Awards... Recognized for Social Contribution Efforts

Shinsegae, which declared ethical management for the first time among domestic companies in 1999, is leading the spread of a sincere sharing culture through continuous social contribution activities.

A representative example is the ‘Hope Delivery Campaign,’ where employees voluntarily donate a certain amount, and the company matches that amount to create a sharing fund. Over the past three years, the fund raised by Shinsegae Group together with its employees has reached 22.7 billion KRW. The fund is used for various sharing activities, especially supporting future generations through the operation of the Shinsegae Toy Library, medical expense support for children with illnesses, and living expense support for vulnerable youth.

With 13 department store branches nationwide, Shinsegae continues regional win-win activities based on its local stores. A representative activity is the ‘Love S-Box,’ which delivers meat and fruit directly to the doorsteps of children from single-parent or vulnerable families in the community to ensure they do not skip meals.

Shinsegae was also recognized for contributing to the popularization of the arts by operating the Shinsegae Culture Hall and the ‘Shinsegae Gallery.’ Since signing a sponsorship agreement with the Hanbit Arts Group, a visually impaired musicians’ ensemble, in 2012, Shinsegae has supported education and space for the performers for 12 years and provided opportunities to perform on various stages such as the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and Daegu Opera House.

Lee Won-ho, Executive Director in charge of CSR at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “This recognition reflects the efforts and sincerity of all Shinsegae members who have consistently participated to share hope, warmth, and the value of art with the community and society.” He added, “We will take this award as an opportunity to take a more active lead in spreading the culture of sharing.”
