Gyeonggi-do Promotes Campaign to Strengthen the 'Safe Jeonse Project'

Gyeonggi Province will carry out a campaign to strengthen the ‘Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project,’ which is underway to prevent Jeonse damage and create a safe Jeonse transaction environment, until the end of December.

The Gyeonggi Safe Jeonse Project is divided into the ‘Safe Jeonse Checkpoint Keeper Movement,’ where licensed real estate agents voluntarily carry out action tasks, and the ‘Safe Jeonse Management Group,’ the largest nationwide group with 1,070 participants from both public and private sectors.

The Safe Jeonse Checkpoint Keeper Movement is a social campaign in which licensed real estate agents prepare and implement action tasks to prevent Jeonse damage. Participating real estate offices attach ‘Safe Jeonse Keeper’ stickers to help residents recognize and use them with confidence. The action tasks include ▲providing tenant checklists ▲offering transparent information ▲providing notification services when rights relations change after contracts ▲prohibiting brokerage of risky properties ▲and notifying information about malicious landlords.

As of the end of October, more than 12,000 licensed real estate agents, accounting for 40% of the 30,000 agents in the province, are participating in the ‘Safe Jeonse Checkpoint Keeper Movement.’

Gyeonggi Province will actively promote the perceived results and improvements to raise awareness of a safe Jeonse culture and encourage participation in the project through this campaign. After the campaign ends, a comprehensive report summarizing the implementation status and survey results by city, county, and district will be distributed, and rapid improvement measures will be reflected to enhance the effectiveness of the project.

Lee Gye-sam, Director of the Urban Housing Office of Gyeonggi Province, said, “Through the ‘Safe Jeonse Project,’ we will do our best to increase the transparency and reliability of Jeonse transactions so that citizens can enjoy a safe and secure living environment.” He added, “The success of this project depends on the interest of tenants and the active participation of licensed real estate agents. If everyone fulfills their roles and works together, we can greatly improve the overall housing stability of our society.”
