Issued a Statement to Refute 'Sexual Harassment Allegations'
Still Actively Engaged on YouTube
A meditation YouTuber and former singer with over 600,000 subscribers, accused of sexually harassing students, has spoken out for the first time. He claims that someone orchestrated a joint sexual harassment lawsuit against him.
YouTuber A recently posted on his channel, identifying himself as the "person involved with 600,000 meditators," stating this. "Since 1997, I have conducted suicide prevention projects and met many people. In 2021, due to conflicts among participants within the group, Mr. B voluntarily left the organization, and afterward, we were reported to institutions such as the National Tax Service, police stations, and the National Petition Office," he explained.
He emphasized, "I have never had any fines, education orders, or criminal records," adding, "In 2022, after an investigation, all charges were dismissed, but in 2024, Mr. B involved some individuals and filed new complaints with the police and media, adding allegations of harassment."
A pointed out that the complainants filed lawsuits several years after the alleged incidents, saying, "From 2017 to 2023, none of these individuals mentioned any sexual harassment. However, after meeting Mr. B in 2024, suddenly a joint lawsuit was filed under Mr. B’s personal complaint. This entire situation raises suspicions that 'someone is orchestrating this'."
A is accused of sexually harassing minors met through his meditation center and volunteer groups. So far, five victims have been reported to the police, including a minor with intellectual disabilities. Even after news of the case being sent to prosecution surfaced, A continued to upload meditation videos and held meditation classes as scheduled. It is also known that A was active as a singer, appeared on various TV programs, and in 2019 was fined 2 million KRW by a court for sending sexually explicit text messages to a female subscriber.
Regarding Mr. B, a man in his 50s who claims, "During a center class in July 2020, there was contact on the back of my body and inappropriate remarks," A responded, "He claims I said, 'I like you, but I can’t say it because I’m married,' but Mr. B is older than me." He added, "Although he says he was shocked by forced harassment during class, he attended 15 classes over a year, voluntarily donated, and participated in volunteer activities."
Regarding the claim that during a live broadcast at the Seoul headquarters open studio in December 2020, A put a lavalier microphone on Mr. B and inserted his hand inside his clothes, touching his chest for 10 minutes, A stated, "The studio was open with six cameras. After reviewing the live footage, Mr. B did not use the lavalier microphone but held a microphone in his hand during participation."
He also denied allegations from another female victim about physical contact at a book launch event and a woman living in Australia who claimed to have felt sexual humiliation while studying English. Regarding the fine he received for sending text messages to the woman in Australia, A said, "I was summarily prosecuted but appealed and requested a jury trial. The trial is scheduled for 2025, and I have asked the judiciary to summon the person directly to Korea."
On the delay in his explanation, he said, "I was concerned about the complainants who were once connected to me. However, before any trial, the complainants have been creating issues through joint media reports, appearances on the CyberRecker channel, anti-SNS activities, and comments, trying to sway public opinion. I will now sincerely participate in all legal procedures and reveal the truth." Even after releasing this statement, he continues to actively post videos on YouTube.
