The "Neulim" team, composed of Mun Jun-hyeok, Park Sang-min, Lee Ji-yoon, Jo Eun-chae, Jang Bin-seong from the Department of Aquaculture Applied Life Sciences, and Son Jin-hwan and Jang Hyo-jin from the Department of Fisheries Life Sciences at Pukyong National University, proposed a startup idea for customized ornamental fish and turtle feed, winning the Grand Prize in the preliminary startup category (Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center Director's Award).
This program, jointly hosted by the Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center, Busanjin-gu, and Busan Women's University, is a tailored startup program to support the growth of prospective entrepreneurs and early-stage startups with promising startup items related to the pet industry.
Through the first document screening and the second presentation evaluation, a total of eight teams, including the Pukyong National University student team, prospective entrepreneurs, and early-stage startups, were selected for this program.
From June to October, they completed all processes including startup education, expert mentoring, acceleration programs, and market research, and competed with their startup items through IR pitching at the demo day held on October 31.
The Pukyong National University student team launched a startup with customized ornamental fish and turtle feed considering nutrition management and environmental protection. With support from this program, they operated a booth at the Busan Pet Show and collected over 100 survey responses, putting effort into commercialization.
They were recognized for their achievements, including the actual production of first and second prototype feeds together with PhD candidate Jeon Hyun-cheol from the Feed Nutrition Laboratory at Pukyong National University, and won the Grand Prize. With this award, they will receive additional support such as bonus points when participating in follow-up projects.
The Pukyong National University startup club Neulim also participates in the Badagigi Sponsorship Project, a nonprofit private organization support project by the Korea Maritime Foundation, working to protect a sustainable marine environment.
