Solidigm Launches World's Largest Capacity eSSD 'D5-P5336'... "Supply to Customers in Q1 Next Year"

New QLC-Based Product with 122TB Capacity

Storage Space Reduced to One-Quarter
Power Consumption Cut by Up to 84%

"Currently Undergoing Certification with Clients"

Solidigm, a subsidiary of SK Hynix, has launched a new enterprise solid-state drive (eSSD) product, the 'D5-P5336,' based on quad-level cell (QLC) technology, featuring the largest existing NAND solution capacity of 122TB (terabytes).

On the 13th, Solidigm stated, "We were the first in the industry to commercialize high-capacity SSDs based on QLC and have supplied products totaling over 100EB (exabytes = 1EB equals 1 million TB) since 2018, leading the AI NAND solution market. The new 'D5-P5336' doubles the capacity of the previous 61.44TB product, marking another breakthrough in technology."

Solidigm expects the 122TB eSSD, which boasts not only the world's largest capacity but also top-level power efficiency and space efficiency, to provide significant benefits to global customers building AI infrastructure such as data centers.

The D5-P5336 is the world's first to offer durability with unlimited random writes for five years, making it optimized for data-intensive AI workloads. The company says that when customers build scalable network-attached storage (NAS) with this product, the storage space required is reduced to one-quarter compared to the existing hybrid HDD and SSD approach, and power consumption can be reduced by up to 84%.

Additionally, when customers build edge servers with space constraints, applying this product instead of the commonly used TLC-based 30TB SSD allows four times more data to be stored in the same area, and power density per TB improves by 3.4 times.

Solidigm is currently conducting certification work for the D5-P5336 with global customers and plans to start product supply from the first quarter of next year once this process is completed. Through this, the company aims to maintain its leadership in the AI data center NAND solution market by offering a broad enterprise SSD portfolio ranging from 7TB to 122TB.

Travis Vigil, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Dell Technologies, said, "As the AI era fully unfolds, enterprises are deeply considering solutions to power and space efficiency issues in data centers. Solidigm's eSSD will maximize energy efficiency and space utilization in data centers." He added, "Dell is increasing data center density through its own solutions and looks forward to continued innovation in storage, such as Solidigm's new product."

Greg Matson, Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Marketing at Solidigm, said, "As the scope of AI usage expands, data center designers are making multifaceted efforts to improve energy and space efficiency. Our new product will be a game changer that proactively addresses these pain points for our customers."
