On the 13th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Byeong-no) announced that it held a public hearing on the 12th to gather opinions from residents and related experts on the "2040 Damyang County Basic Plan (draft)." The county basic plan is a statutory plan established in accordance with the "National Land Planning and Utilization Act."

The county established the "2040 Damyang County Basic Plan," which includes long-term development strategies for Damyang such as responding to population decline, sustainable economic growth, and tourism revitalization, aiming to build a "self-reliant economic city of happiness for all" based on the "Ecological City Damyang" brand.

At the public hearing, the vice governor, the chairman of the Damyang County Council, Jeollanam-do assembly members Park Jong-won and Lee Gyu-hyun, and residents attended and presented various opinions for regional development.

The public hearing was chaired by Professor Noh Kyung-su of Gwangju University, with Damyang County council member Lee Ki-beom, Vice President Jeong Seong-bok of Korea Technology Development Co., Ltd., and CEO Kim Hye-seon of Garam Engineering Co., Ltd. participating as discussants to express their views on the county basic plan.

Residents who have opinions on the county basic plan can submit their opinions by visiting the Damyang County Urban Division or the relevant eup/myeon offices in person, or by mail or email until the 29th. Afterwards, the plan will be submitted for approval to Jeollanam-do after consultation with the county council and the county planning committee.

Meanwhile, Damyang-gun derived the future vision for 2040, sector-specific promotion strategies, and living zone-specific planning tasks through a resident planning group from September to December last year, and held resident briefings at 12 eup/myeon offices in January this year. In addition, the basic plan was established through two expert advisory meetings and preliminary consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements.
