The ‘Urban and Regional Innovation Industry Expo’ is the largest urban regeneration expo in Korea, hosted by the Urban Regeneration Industry Promotion Association and Yonhap News Agency, and jointly organized by Korea Land and Housing Corporation, Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation, and Gyeonggi Urban Housing Corporation. As a side event, the expo holds a drone photography contest, selecting and awarding urban and regional photos that demonstrate thematic relevance and professionalism, with the selected works exhibited within the expo venue.
Yangju City submitted a panoramic photo capturing a delivery drone flying over Okjeong New Town in this contest. The photo was highly evaluated for depicting a city undergoing regional innovation alongside the emergence of the drone advanced industry, leading to its selection as the grand prize winner in this contest.
Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City stated, “Following the organizational restructuring in the 8th term of the elected administration, our city has established the Self-Sufficient City Development Division and Urban Regeneration Division under the Balanced Development Bureau to promote new industry attraction and urban regeneration tasks.” He added, “We will make every effort to achieve balanced development to leap forward as the central city of northern Gyeonggi with a population of 500,000.”
