This project was promoted with the intention of maintaining the original function of the detention basin while returning the closed basin to the citizens.

The city invested 500 million KRW from the provincial government for the small park environment improvement project and 300 million KRW from the special adjustment grant for the Modang Neighborhood Park environment improvement project to improve the Modang Park detention basin environment and create a hydrangea garden.

Through this, Modang Park, which was once barren when the park was created, has been reborn as a citizen-friendly space by demolishing the outer fence of the detention basin, dismantling the concrete floor, installing a deck walkway, planting aquatic plants, and planting trees.

An official from Goyang Special City stated, "We expect that opening the closed detention basin in Modang Park and planting trees in the green belt will increase citizens' satisfaction with park use and that Modang Park will become a local attraction."
