Criticism Through Facebook on the 13th
Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon criticized Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, for calling the suppression of the rally 'violent,' saying, "It is Lee himself who is reviving the violent politics of the 1980s."
On the 13th, Mayor Oh wrote on Facebook, "Lee is making implicit provocations," adding, "He is deliberately turning a blind eye to the fact that 105 police officers were injured in illegal violent acts, while invoking the 'violent police of the 1980s' and inciting what seems like a desire for bloodshed."

On the 11th, during a Supreme Council meeting, Lee pointed out that the police violently suppressed the nationwide Korean Confederation of Trade Unions rally and said, "It seems that soon there will be incidents of people being beaten and bleeding at the hands of the police."
Mayor Oh emphasized, "In a country governed by the rule of law, illegal protests cannot be justified for any reason, yet the leader of the main opposition party is defending them, using old and provocative terms like 'provocateur' and 'Baekgoltan' to encourage radical actions."
He also referred to Lee's first trial sentencing scheduled for the 15th. Mayor Oh said, "The use of all means to pressure the court and push the entire opposition to extreme struggle clearly shows anxiety and nervousness about the impending judgment of the law."
He continued, "Although he calls for 'general mobilization' within the opposition to cooperate, the response is only cold," and evaluated, "This is because the public has already turned their backs on a defendant who appears to be trying to shake social order ahead of the trial."
