The Gwangju Metropolitan City General Construction Headquarters is undertaking pre-inspection preparations to minimize citizen inconvenience and ensure a safe traffic environment in anticipation of winter snowfall.
According to the Gwangju Metropolitan City General Construction Headquarters on the 13th, the period from the 15th of this month to March 15th of next year has been designated as the 'Road Snow Removal Measures Period.' A work team of 32 members divided into 3 groups will be organized to carry out prompt and efficient snow removal operations.
Based on weather conditions, a snow removal deployment plan will be established to conduct snow removal operations on 13 designated routes totaling 96 km, including Mujin-daero, Bitgoeul-daero, and Hanam Jingok Industrial Complex Road.
Additionally, for pre-snow removal preparations, inspections and replacements of aging equipment were conducted on 42 units of 7 types of machinery, including spreaders, brine spraying devices, dump trucks, and excavators. Furthermore, 1,640 tons of snow removal salt and eco-friendly deicing agents have been secured to prepare for heavy snowfall caused by abnormal weather.
Since December last year until July this year, the city invested 3.2 billion KRW from special grants to install automatic brine spraying devices at five locations, including Bondeok Interchange (IC) and Sangmu Intersection.
Gwangju City will monitor weather conditions 24 hours a day and operate emergency duty teams in stages when weather warnings are issued to respond immediately. Snow removal operations will be promptly carried out when snowfall is forecasted.
Kim Jong-ho, head of the Gwangju Metropolitan City General Construction Headquarters, emphasized, “We will maintain an emergency work system and promptly carry out snow removal operations when winter snowfall occurs. We will do our best to minimize citizen inconvenience and provide a safe traffic environment.”
