Gyeonggi Paju City (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 13th that it is accepting applications for the designation of 'Self-Inspection Businesses' until the 30th.
Self-Inspection Businesses refer to workplaces where operators of facilities emitting environmental pollutants voluntarily conduct inspections to protect the environment.
Businesses designated as Self-Inspection Businesses are exempt from regular inspections for three years and must conduct inspections autonomously at their workplaces and report the results to Paju City.
For workplaces found to have violations, the designation as a Self-Inspection Business will be revoked, and they will be classified and managed as priority management workplaces.
Businesses wishing to apply can download the application form from the Paju City Hall website and submit it by visiting the Environmental Guidance Division or by mail. The application period is until the 30th, and applications can also be submitted at any time thereafter.
Upon receiving the application for designation as a Self-Inspection Business, Paju City will thoroughly review the status of pollutant emissions, self-inspection capabilities, and conduct on-site investigations according to the 'Integrated Guidance and Inspection Regulations on Facilities Emitting Environmental Pollutants' to decide on the designation.
Jo Yoon-ok, head of the Environmental Guidance Division, said, “By having businesses designated as Self-Inspection Businesses conduct inspections themselves, we expect to improve inspection efficiency and, based on this, develop improvement measures that will reduce pollutant emissions.”
