AI intelligent robotics technology company Cimes is showing strong performance. Although it was listed on the KOSDAQ market on the 24th of last month with an initial public offering price of 30,000 KRW, its stock price had been declining day by day. However, after news emerged that it was selected for three new government-supported research projects in the second half of this year, initiating approximately 5 billion KRW worth of research and development projects, the stock price has been rebounding.
The news that Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, appointed Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, as the head of the Government Efficiency Committee also appears to be influencing improved investor sentiment. Expectations are growing that Musk will ease regulations and that Trump will support industrial promotion.
On the 28th of last month, Musk appeared as a virtual speaker at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and predicted that "by 2040, there will be more than 10 billion humanoids." This implies that humanoid robots will become widespread and outnumber humans in 16 years.
At 10:24 AM on the 13th, Cimes was trading at 19,230 KRW, up 15.08% from the previous day.
Cimes announced the day before that it will be pursuing projects such as the Robot Industry Technology Development Project, Machinery Equipment Industry Technology Development Project, and Industrial Technology International Cooperation Project. Using 3D vision-based AI robotics technology, Cimes will participate in ▲AI autonomous manufacturing-related robot intelligence and automation technology ▲and humanoid robot development and demonstration. It will utilize approximately 1 billion KRW of government funding annually for research and development over five years.
Two of the industrial technology development projects are supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (with KEIT as the managing agency). Along with five institutions including the Korea Electronics Technology Institute, Cimes will conduct research, development, and demonstration of manufacturing robot intelligence through humanoid robot development, and with four institutions including Sungwoo Hitech, it will carry out a future car manufacturing intelligence development project using AI robotics.
The Industrial Technology International Cooperation Project is a joint project with a U.S. research institution internationally renowned in the AI field to develop robot manipulation intelligence technology through a multimodal AI foundation model.
A Cimes representative stated, "Through joint research with world-class research institutions and companies, we will secure AI autonomous manufacturing technology and intelligent robot technology that can be immediately applied to industrial sites," adding, "Furthermore, we plan to promote commercialization to maximize sales and profits."
Founded in 2014, Cimes provides intelligent robot automation solutions to various global companies in industries such as logistics, manufacturing, and secondary battery inspection. Its automation solutions have already been introduced and are operating at mass production sites of leading domestic and international companies such as Coupang, Hyundai-Kia Motors, Nike, APR, and LG Energy Solution. Notably, Cimes has grown by solving robotic automation challenges in the most difficult unstructured manual processes of its clients, earning recognition for its technological capabilities.
Cimes plans to use the funds raised through its initial public offering (IPO) for ▲robot and vision technology development ▲expansion of the Cheonan Robot Center ▲and entry into the U.S. market. It aims to use the U.S. market, which has high market demand, as a foothold to expand its global business.
