Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, nominated Pete Hegseth, a Fox News host, as Secretary of Defense on the 12th (local time).
Hegseth is a former Army major and a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. He hosted a program on Fox News.
President-elect Trump stated, "Peter will be a brave and patriotic champion of the 'peace through strength' policy."
