10,422 Units Sold from January to October
Nearly Matches Last Year's Total Sales
BMW's flagship sedan 520i has become the first imported car to surpass 10,000 units sold in the domestic market with a single engine specification.
According to the Korea Imported Automobile Association on the 13th, BMW 520i sales from January to October this year totaled 10,422 units. This marks the first time in Korea (based on association member companies) that a single trim has exceeded 10,000 units sold. This figure is close to last year's total sales of 10,451 units. The BMW 5 Series as a whole already surpassed 10,000 cumulative sales in the first half of this year, ranking first in imported car sales during that period.
Despite being the most basic entry trim, the 520i's popularity is attributed to its inclusion of key convenience features. Notable examples include adaptive LED headlights with high beam assist, the BMW Curved Display and BMW Head-Up Display, and 19-inch wheels.
Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go functionality, lane keeping assist, front and rear collision and rear-end warning systems included in the Driving Assistant Professional, as well as Parking Assistant Plus featuring parking and reversing assist functions and a surround view, are also provided as standard equipment.
Meanwhile, the BMW 520i is equipped with a BMW TwinPower Turbo engine delivering a maximum output of 190 horsepower and a peak torque of 31.6 kgf·m. Additionally, 48-volt mild hybrid technology is applied as standard.
