Busan Station at 11 AM on the 13th: Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Sponsor Dong-il Kim Eun-su, and Others Attend
Plans to Expand Disabled City Tour Routes in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Regions Including Ulsan and Geoje
On the 13th at 11 a.m., Busan City will hold the opening ceremony for the Busan Disabled City Tour, ‘Narae Bus No. 2,’ at Busan Station Plaza.
The opening ceremony will be attended by Mayor Park Hyung-jun, along with sponsoring company CEO Kim Eun-su of Dongil, Lee Soo-tae, Chairman of the Busan Community Chest of Korea, and Cho Chang-yong, Chairman of the Busan Disabled Persons’ Federation. The event will include an unveiling ceremony and a test ride.
On April 17, during the donation ceremony for Dongil’s ‘Support Project for Vulnerable Groups in Busan,’ the city, together with partner organizations Busan Community Chest of Korea and Busan Disabled Persons’ Federation, agreed to use the sponsorship funds to purchase a second ‘Disabled City Tour Bus’ to ensure equal tourism mobility rights for disabled persons comparable to those without disabilities.
Subsequently, the delivered bus underwent modifications such as the installation of wheelchair seats and was reborn as the Busan Disabled City Tour, ‘Narae Bus No. 2,’ featuring a design symbolizing disabled persons’ rights and the city.
To imbue the design of ‘Narae Bus No. 2’ with the meaning of enhancing disabled persons’ rights, the winning works from the ‘2024 Busan Developmental Disabilities Drawing Contest’ were used in the bus design expression.
The Busan Disabled City Tour ‘Narae Bus No. 2’ was manufactured as a Hyundai Unicity 28-seater (equipped with a lift and 6 wheelchair seats).
‘Narae Bus No. 2’ will operate twice daily along with Bus No. 1 starting this month, and in the future, intercity travel routes will expand to Ulsan and Gyeongnam. Reservations can be made through the official Narae Bus website or by contacting the Disabled Persons’ Federation by phone.
Busan City opened the first ‘Narae Bus’ for the Disabled City Tour in May last year, operating two routes in the eastern and western Busan areas from Tuesday to Saturday each week. On days without city tours, long-distance trips to other regions are also conducted.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, “I believe that Busan, where disabilities are not obstacles to realizing one’s dreams, is truly a ‘Busan where people want to live again.’ With the opening of ‘Narae Bus No. 2,’ we will secure mobility rights for disabled persons, create a ‘disability-friendly city Busan,’ and do our utmost to support disabled persons to become confident leaders of Busan.”
