"Aggression Increases During Mating Season"
In Gyeonggi Province's Suwon and Uiwang cities, where deer have caused damage by ramming people, there have also been reports of a deer with antlers spotted in Gunsan, Jeonbuk Province.
According to Yonhap News on the 12th, a report was received by Gunsan City and the Jeonbuk Fire Headquarters around 2:30 PM the previous day, stating that a deer with antlers was seen on Mulbit Bridge at Eunpa Lake Park in Miryong-dong, Gunsan City. Additional reports came in at 7:10 PM and 9:20 PM the same day, indicating that a deer with antlers appeared on roads and walking trails near the lake.
One witness said, "While driving on a road near the inline skating rink south of Eunpa Lake Park at night, I saw a deer standing on the road and stopped my car," adding, "I saw news that a deer rammed people with its antlers in Suwon, so I am worried about being attacked," when speaking to 119 emergency services.
The fire authorities stated that they are cooperating with the police to capture the deer.
A Gunsan City official urged, "Since winter is the mating season and male deer are highly aggressive, please do not approach deer if you see them. Instead, evacuate to a safe place and report the sighting."
Meanwhile, on the 6th and 9th of this month, deer presumed to have escaped from farms were spotted in residential areas in Suwon and Uiwang cities and were captured by fire authorities. In Gwanggyo Lake Park, Suwon City, a man in his 30s was injured in the left abdomen and right groin by a deer antler, and at 5:22 AM the same day, a woman in her 60s was injured on her leg by a deer antler on the walking trail at Gwanggyo Reservoir in Jangan-gu.
