Duo Concert on the 16th at Seoul Arts Center IBK Chamber Hall
Two young performers gaining attention in the Baroque music scene, Th?otime Langlois de Swarte and Justine Taylor, will visit Korea for the first time and hold a duo concert at the IBK Chamber Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on the 16th.
This is part of the 2024 SAC Baroque Music Series organized by the Seoul Arts Center (SAC). It is expected to be a stage where audiences can fully enjoy the charm of the violin and harpsichord.
De Swarte is a violinist who plays both Baroque and modern instruments and has recently emerged as a conductor. In 2014, he was invited by William Christie, a master of Baroque music, to become a full member of the period instrument ensemble Les Arts Florissants.
Taylor is a harpsichordist and fortepiano player who gained attention by winning the harpsichord category at the 2015 Bruges Early Music Competition. He has been recognized as a next-generation figure in the Baroque music world, receiving the Gramophone Editor's Choice and the 'Choc de l'Ann?e' award from Classica magazine.
De Swarte and Taylor co-founded the French Baroque ensemble Le Consort and have performed worldwide. They have released acclaimed albums such as 'Specchio Veneziano,' 'Opus 1,' and 'Royal Handel' on Alpha Classics. In 2017, they were nominated for the Young Soloist category at the Victoires de la Musique in France and received the Music Award of the Year from the Professional Critics Association.
In this concert, De Swarte and Taylor will perform music by composers active in 17th and 18th century Europe. The program includes works by French composers Jean-Baptiste Dubuisson (1622?1680), Louis-Fran?ois and Fran?ois-Fran?ois Couperin (1692?1745 and 1698?1787), Fran?ois Rebel (1701?1775), Italian composer Arcangelo Corelli (1653?1713), and English composers Henry Purcell (1659?1695) and Henry Eccles (1670?1742).
