Delivery of Proposal for Women-Friendly Policies by 5 Divisions

On the afternoon of the 12th, Buk-gu, Gwangju City held the 'Women’s Happiness Support Network Policy Forum' in the conference room on the 3rd floor of the district office.


The Women’s Happiness Support Network is a public-private consultative body composed of five divisions: Capacity Building, Family-Friendly, Safety Companion, Women’s Economy, and Equality Culture, aimed at realizing a women-friendly city and enhancing the expertise of women’s policies. This forum was organized to share the network’s activities for this year and to discover effective women’s policies.


About 100 participants, including members of the Women’s Happiness Support Network, attended the policy forum. The event proceeded in the order of a congratulatory performance, a report on the network’s progress, a policy proposal delivery ceremony by division, and a commemorative photo session.


The policy proposals included: Capacity Building division’s “Strengthening the Capabilities of Middle-aged Women,” Family-Friendly division’s “Operation of Happy Family School for Dual-Income Families,” Safety Companion division’s “Operation of Women’s Self-Defense Program,” Women’s Economy division’s “Support for Women’s Independent Youth,” and Equality Culture division’s “Improvement of Gender Sensitivity and Gender Equality Education.”


Moon In, head of Buk-gu Office, said, “I thank the members of the Women’s Happiness Support Network who are playing various roles in supporting the establishment of the third-stage model for our district’s women-friendly city.” He added, “We will continue to actively cooperate with women’s organizations to spread a culture of gender equality and do our best so that women can enjoy a happy life.”


Meanwhile, Buk-gu was designated as a ‘Women-Friendly City’ in 2011, followed by the ‘second stage’ in 2016, and in 2021, it was designated as the ‘nation’s first third stage,’ actively promoting projects to expand women’s participation in social and economic activities and realize gender equality.
