"Let's Stop the Distortion and Denigration of the 5·18 History with Our Own Hands"

On the 12th, the 5·18 Memorial Foundation announced that it will hold an idea contest in three areas?policy, education, and technology?to counter distortion and denigration of the May 18 Democratic Movement history that can be practiced in daily life.

The contest covers the establishment of legal systems to prevent distortion and denigration or measures to protect the rights of victims of distortion and denigration (policy), ways to raise user ethical awareness regarding distortion and denigration of May 18 (education), and technical measures such as real-time monitoring and detection to identify and prevent the spread of May 18 fake news (technology).

Individuals or teams of up to three members can choose one area to submit their ideas. Prizes include 500,000 KRW for the grand prize, 300,000 KRW for the excellence award, and 200,000 KRW for the encouragement award, along with the Chairman’s Award of the 5·18 Memorial Foundation.

Submissions are accepted until December 1, and the results will be announced in December. For application forms and detailed information, please refer to the Foundation’s website.
