Bucheon City Expands Water and Sewage Fee Discounts to Families with Two or More Children

Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province will expand the eligibility for water and sewage fee reductions for multi-child households from those with three or more children to those with two or more children starting January next year.

This is to reduce the economic burden on multi-child families and applies the multi-child family criteria from the "Bucheon City Ordinance for Responding to Low Birthrate, Aging Society, and Sustainable Development."

The eligible households are those with two children where the youngest child is 18 years old or younger, and a 5% reduction on the billed water fee will be applied. Welfare discount recipients such as basic livelihood security recipients will not receive overlapping discounts.

The city expects about 32,000 households to benefit from a new fee reduction totaling 405 million KRW through this policy.

Applications can be made sequentially starting from the 18th according to the applicant's address. Applicants can apply by accessing the "Payment Convenience Menu" on the Bucheon City water and sewage fee payment website or by visiting the administrative welfare center in their residential jurisdiction with an ID card.

The discount will be applied from the billing cycle following the application submission date and is not retroactive.
