The identity of an active-duty Army lieutenant colonel in his late 30s, suspected of mutilating and abandoning the body of a woman in her 30s in the Bukhan River in Hwacheon, Gangwon, has been revealed. YouTube channel 'Garosero Research Institute'

Photos claiming to reveal the identity of an active-duty military officer who murdered a female civilian employee, mutilated the body, and abandoned it in the Bukhangang River are spreading online.

Recently, the YouTube channel 'Captain Kim Sang-ho - Everything About the Military' released some photos purportedly showing the identity of Major A (38) of the Army, who is accused of murder, corpse mutilation, and corpse concealment. According to the channel's YouTuber, A graduated from the Korea Military Academy, is married with two children, and is known to have been diligent and kind to his juniors.

The YouTuber stated, "Almost all soldiers already know. The announcement of his promotion to lieutenant colonel was made recently," adding, "When I asked acquaintances, they said he was a senior who was kind to juniors who were good-natured, diligent, and high-achieving at the Military Academy, without any bad remarks."

Another YouTube channel, Garosero Research Institute, also revealed A's identity. This YouTuber disclosed several photos without mosaics, including A's real name, his Military Academy graduation album, and daily life images.

A is accused of killing civilian employee B (33) at a military base parking lot in Gwacheon City, Gyeonggi Province, around 3 p.m. on the 25th of last month, mutilating the body, and abandoning it in the Bukhangang River in Hwacheon County, Gangwon Province, around 9:40 p.m. the following day. The crime was uncovered when part of the abandoned body surfaced around 2:46 p.m. on the 2nd. Police investigating the case urgently arrested A on the 3rd at the underground passage near Irwon Station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Subsequently, A was detained on the 5th.

The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency held a personal information disclosure review committee on the 7th and decided to release A's name, age, and photos. In response, A immediately filed an objection and submitted a provisional injunction requesting the cancellation of the disclosure, along with an administrative lawsuit. The Chuncheon District Court dismissed A's provisional injunction to suspend the disclosure of personal information, stating, "There is no concern of irreparable harm to A, nor is there urgency to prevent such harm."
