Hygiene products such as disposable wet wipes, which are carelessly thrown into toilets or drains, are major causes of sewer pipe blockages, foul odors, sewage backflow, and sewage treatment facility malfunctions. These issues lead to environmental pollution and consume significant budgets and administrative resources.
Accordingly, the city plans to continuously promote a campaign on the "Proper Household Wastewater Disposal Guidelines," which includes prohibitions on flushing wet wipes, hygiene products, and food waste down the toilet; illegal use of garbage disposals; and disposal of waste cooking oil and animal fats into drains.
A city official stated, "We ask for the active participation of citizens to prevent environmental pollution and reduce maintenance costs of sewage facilities by practicing proper household wastewater disposal guidelines, such as not using illegal garbage disposals and not disposing of disposable wet wipes and hygiene products into toilets or drains."
