Promoted with Various Concepts such as Fountains and Cherry Blossoms
Changwon City in Gyeongnam Special City will create the ‘Changwon City Street of Light’ at six major downtown locations to provide special nighttime attractions for citizens and tourists during the year-end and New Year holidays and to revitalize the local commercial districts.
Park Dong-jin, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, is giving a briefing related to the creation of light.
The Street of Light will be operated from the lighting ceremony on December 2nd until the end of March next year. The locations include ▲ Fountain Square in Sangnam-dong, Seongsan-gu ▲ Culture Street in Yongho-dong (Yongji-ro 153beon-gil) ▲ Garosu-gil ▲ Odong-dong Culture Street Plaza and Changdong Imagination Road in Masanhappo-gu ▲ Shopping street in Hapjeong-dong, Masanhoewon-gu (Hapseong Old Road and Hapseongnam 7-gil) ▲ and Jungwon Square area in Jinhae-gu.
Each downtown area will be decorated with diverse landscape lighting utilizing open plazas and streets, each designed with a unique theme. Fountain Square in Sangnam-dong will feature landscape lighting using sail-shaped sculptures themed around the sea. The Culture Street Plaza in Yongho-dong will have interactive lighting that involves citizen participation, adding fun for visitors. Garosu-gil will have lighting installed on the canopies of metasequoia trees, creating an exotic and beautiful scenery.
Odong-dong Buljong Street will feature an LED multimedia tunnel and a large Christmas tree, along with sculptures of numbers commemorating the Gapjin Year 2024 and the Eulsa Year 2025, as well as dragon and snake character sculptures. The shopping street in Hapjeong-dong will be brightened with various light illuminations, and Jungwon Square in Chungmu-dong will have a fountain sculpture emitting light and a cherry blossom tree sculpture where visitors can hang hopeful messages.
This year, compared to the previous year, large and small landscape sculptures that will catch the eyes of citizens and tourists will be installed. The scale will be expanded in terms of the types and number of lights, and enhanced designs and lighting technologies will be applied, allowing visitors to experience a dazzling light exhibition that makes them stop to take certified photos.
Park Dong-jin, Director of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau, stated, “Through the beautiful street lighting, we hope to provide healing for citizens and new attractions and memories for tourists, and we expect the year-end and New Year downtown vitality to revitalize the local commercial districts.”
