Hana Bank's Hana Financial Research Institute announced on the 12th that it held a joint conference on "Green Finance" with researchers from the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) at BIDV's headquarters located in Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, Vietnam.

This conference was organized to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the strategic partnership between Hana Bank and BIDV and to share know-how related to green finance between the two banks.

Attendees included officials from Hana Financial Group, BIDV President Le Ngoc Lam, Vice President Tran Phuong, Research Director Can Van Luc, and representatives from the State Bank of Vietnam.

The Hana Financial Research Institute presented an introduction to global ESG regulations and cases of green finance activities promoted by Hana Financial Group.

BIDV researchers shared insights on Vietnam's green trends and strategies, while the State Bank of Vietnam discussed green credit policies.

In particular, the Hana Financial Research Institute emphasized through this conference the need to consistently establish business-wide processes such as strategic vision formulation, governance establishment, investment, financial product development, and risk management to achieve sustainability and green finance performance for financial companies.

Jung Hee-soo, head of the Hana Financial Research Institute, said, "As South Korea and Vietnam are accelerating their transition to a green economy system, the role of domestic financial companies is increasingly emphasized. Based on the research achievements of the Hana Financial Research Institute, we will continue to strive to create various collaboration opportunities related to green finance between Hana Bank and BIDV and to take the lead in practicing ESG management."

Meanwhile, in 2023, the Hana Financial Research Institute signed a business agreement to strengthen cooperation such as research exchanges with BTRI (BIDV Training and Research Institute), a research institute of BIDV. Hana Bank has been expanding its local network and strengthening local operations by opening its Hanoi branch in 1999, its Ho Chi Minh City branch in 2015, and acquiring shares in BIDV, the largest bank by assets in Vietnam, in 2019.
