Nordic walking uses both the upper and lower body while walking, resulting in higher calorie consumption than regular walking and less burden on the knee joints, making it an effective exercise for promoting physical activity and maintaining correct posture.
The program was held a total of 40 times over four sessions, every Monday and Thursday from 10 a.m. for 90 minutes, at locations such as Munsan Noeul-gil, Geumchon Gongneungcheon, and Unjeong Lake Park. According to a satisfaction survey, most participants reported that it was very helpful for improving their health.
Additionally, starting in October, some registered members who completed the program formed regular self-help groups every Friday to independently practice Nordic walking, indicating a high level of program engagement.
Lee Hansang, director of Paju Public Health Center, stated, “We plan to provide maximum support for the Nordic Walking Club program, which helps not only physical health improvement but also emotional stability.”
