Kakao Launches New Character 'Golgolz'

Kakao unveiled its new character lineup 'GOLGOLZ' connecting Kakao Friends and Ninise on the 12th.

GOLGOLZ means friends who 'golgol' when they feel good. It was inspired by the sound a cat makes when it is happy. Kakao plans to showcase various content featuring the main characters of GOLGOLZ, ‘Kim Kong-i’ and ‘Park Bami’, who run the ‘Golgol Song Club’ and seek small daily happiness for the sake of ‘golgol’.

The main characters ‘Kim Kong-i’ and ‘Park Bami’ are close friends with contrasting charms. Kim Kong-i enjoys others' attention and has an outgoing personality, while Park Bami is full of ‘gwichanism’ (a feeling of laziness or reluctance) but always quietly listens to Kong-i’s stories. Contrary to their cute appearances, their ‘golgol expressions’ and ‘golgol sounds’ that appear whenever they feel good are the unique charm of GOLGOLZ.

GOLGOLZ aims to be characters like friends commonly seen around us. To achieve this, familiar surnames like ‘Park’ and ‘Kim’ were given to the characters to make them feel like ordinary friends who could exist nearby in real life.

To celebrate the launch of GOLGOLZ, Kakao is running a promotion offering 24 types of GOLGOLZ emoticons. From November 12 to 18, users who add the new KakaoTalk channel ‘One More Day GOLGOLZ’ will receive the emoticons free on a first-come, first-served basis, with a usage period of 15 days.

Reels-toons, memes, and GIF content that reveal the charm of GOLGOLZ will also be introduced. All content will be serialized on the GOLGOLZ Talk Channel and the newly launched Instagram account.
