Jo In-cheol, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea representing Gwangju Seo-gu Gap, announced on the 12th that he recently held a local autonomy and decentralization policy council at the Gwangju Seo-gu Office to discuss major issues and development strategies. This council was organized to explore concrete measures for residents' convenience and regional development.
The main projects discussed that day included the Yangdong Multipurpose Center, Seo-gu Disabled Welfare Center, Nongsong-dong Health Support Center, Nongsong 2-dong Public Complex Building, and Yudeok-dong Beodeul Village Multipurpose Center. These projects are being promoted to enhance residents' welfare and expand living infrastructure.
The council also continued with various proposals for regional development. In particular, there was a suggestion to activate the community by establishing an urban regeneration hub facility through the construction of the Cherry Blossom Harmony Center, and to create a landmark park in Gwangju by developing Balsan Neighborhood Park. Additionally, the need for installing a pedestrian bridge across Gwangju Stream was raised as a task and policy agenda for promoting the Gwangju Urban Convergence Special Zone project.
Assemblyman Jo emphasized, “It is necessary to install a pedestrian bridge so that transportation-vulnerable groups, stroller users, and cyclists can use Gwangju Stream more safely and conveniently,” adding, “This will greatly improve the mobility convenience of Seo-gu residents.”
He also stated, “I will continue to cooperate closely with the Seo-gu Office to improve the welfare and living environment of Seo-gu residents,” and added, “The National Assembly will also spare no support to strengthen local autonomy and decentralization to resolve regional issues.”
