Gyeonggi Province will hold a total of four regional 'Human Rights Governance Meetings' in November and December. These meetings are organized to meet with human rights organizations within the province, gather opinions on the operation of the Gyeonggi Human Rights Center, and discuss public-private cooperation measures to promote human rights for residents.
The main discussion topics include ▲ key projects and future directions of the Gyeonggi Human Rights Center ▲ current human rights violation issues by region and countermeasures ▲ status of human rights ordinance enactment in Gyeonggi’s cities and counties.
Through these meetings, Gyeonggi Province expects to establish a more robust human rights protection system for residents and create a foundation for close cooperation between the Gyeonggi Human Rights Center and civil society.
The regional meeting schedule is as follows: Southern region (November 12, Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office), Western region (November 28, Gwangmyeong Lifelong Learning Center), Eastern region (December 3, Seongnam City Council), and Northern region (December 5, Gyeonggi Public Interest Activity Support Center).
Masunheung, Gyeonggi Province’s Human Rights Officer, stated, "These regional human rights governance meetings will serve as an opportunity for human rights policies within the province to cooperate more closely with civil society," adding, "We will continue to reflect diverse opinions so that the public and private sectors can jointly protect and promote the human rights of residents."
