Through this partnership, Musinsa will provide comprehensive support for Matin Kim's entry into the local market. From the second half of this year until 2029, Musinsa will be responsible for all aspects of distribution and sales, including marketing, promotion, opening, and operation of offline stores in Japan.

Matin Kim plans to develop its local business through Musinsa's online and offline channels. Online, the Musinsa Global Store will be the main sales channel, and in the first half of next year, the brand will open its first standalone offline store in a prime commercial area in Tokyo. Subsequently, the brand aims to expand stores throughout Japan, opening up to 15 locations within five years while targeting sales of approximately 250 billion KRW.

Previously, Matin Kim held pop-up stores in Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya starting from October last year. According to Matin Kim, the continuous lines at the openings proved the brand's popularity among Japanese customers. Japanese customers in their 20s and 30s have also been visiting Matin Kim’s flagship stores in Seongsu and Myeongdong. Online, the brand has been engaging with Japanese customers since joining the Musinsa Global Store in November 2022.

Based on the partnership, Musinsa and Matin Kim plan to utilize Global Store data to understand Japanese customers' purchasing patterns and the latest trends, offering localized products and implementing customized strategies. Musinsa intends to leverage its local network and market entry know-how to help Matin Kim establish and grow in the Japanese market.

A Musinsa representative said, "Matin Kim has established itself as a leading K-fashion brand through four consecutive pop-up store openings in Japan that drew long queues. We will continue to provide full support so that Matin Kim can create synergy with Musinsa and grow as a global brand not only in Korea but also in Japan."

A representative from Hakgohouse, which operates Matin Kim, expressed, "We are pleased to be able to showcase Matin Kim’s sophisticated brand identity throughout Japan through this distribution agreement. We will continue various activities to repay the support of Japanese customers who love Matin Kim."

Matin Kim plans to open additional stores focusing on the Asian region, including Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

Meanwhile, Musinsa established its Japanese corporation, Musinsa Japan, in 2021 and has been investing and supporting efforts to expand the influence of Korean fashion locally. It has operated events such as pop-ups and showrooms targeting local customers and major retail buyers, promoting domestic brands like Stand Oil, Gloni, and Rest and Recreation.
