Report on Appointment of Border Tsar Just One Day After Nomination
Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, is expected to appoint Steven Miller, former White House Senior Advisor who designed the deportation plan for illegal immigrants, as Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, CNN reported on the 11th (local time).
CNN cited two sources saying that Trump plans to announce this within a few days.
Miller, who led tough border policies in Trump's first administration, is also reported to have drafted a large-scale illegal immigrant deportation pledge during this election. CNN stated, "He announced that in Trump's second administration, the number of illegal immigrant deportees will increase to over 1 million annually, more than ten times the current number."
The day before, Trump announced the appointment of Tom Homan, former Acting Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as the 'Border Czar' for his second administration. Following the nomination of Susie Wiles as White House Chief of Staff, this second appointment of the Border Czar is seen as demonstrating Trump’s interest and determination regarding immigration issues.
Furthermore, just one day after appointing the Border Czar, Trump is expected to announce the Deputy Chief of Staff responsible for immigration at the White House, indicating that he will swiftly push to strengthen border closures immediately upon taking office.
