"Confession: Murder Over Gambling Debt... Arson on Perpetrator's Vehicle"
On the 8th, a shocking incident occurred in Seosan, South Chungcheong Province, where a man murdered a stranger over just 120,000 won, abandoned the body, set fire to the car, and fled the scene.
According to Seosan Police Station on the 11th, the previous day around 4 p.m., police who were staking out a friend's house in the city apprehended Mr. A (43, male) as he was leaving and, during questioning, obtained a full confession of the crime.
Mr. A stated to police that on the 8th, he entered a sedan parked at a restaurant parking lot in Dongmundong, fatally stabbed the driver, Mr. B (41), then drove B's car to a secluded mountain road, disposed of B's body and cell phone, and set the vehicle on fire.
Mr. A was apprehended by police two days after the incident, following a missing person report filed by B's family and the ensuing investigation.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A committed the crime to pay off gambling debts and cover living expenses. It was reported that the stolen money amounted to only 120,000 won.
The police have charged Mr. A with robbery and murder and applied for an arrest warrant on the 11th.
