Former Seoul Yongsan Police Station Chief Lee Im-jae, who was sentenced to imprisonment in the first trial for inadequate response that worsened the damage during the Itaewon disaster, has been dismissed.
According to the police on the 11th, Lee, who was sentenced to imprisonment, was dismissed by the Central Disciplinary Committee last month. Former Yongsan 112 Situation Room Chief Song Byung-ju was also dismissed.
Earlier, the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 11 (Presiding Judge Bae Seong-jung) sentenced former Chief Lee to 3 years imprisonment on charges including professional negligence causing death or injury in September. Lee appealed the court ruling.
Former 112 Situation Room Chief Song was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment, and former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency 112 Security Comprehensive Situation Room Team Leader Park In-hyeok received 1 year imprisonment with 2 years probation.
