Hanbando Unification Future Center Holds 10th Anniversary Ceremony of Opening

Declared Goal to Develop as a Leading Institution for 'Advanced On-Site Unification Education'
Aiming for a More Exciting, Open to Everyone, and Safer Center
Over 260,000 Participants in Unification Experience Training Over 10 Years Since Opening

The Korea Institute for National Unification's Korean Peninsula Unification Future Center (located in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, hereinafter referred to as the ‘Center’) announced on the 11th that it held the '10th Anniversary Ceremony of the Korean Peninsula Unification Future Center' at the Center on the 8th.

The ceremony was held with the attendance of Ko Young-hwan, Director of the Korea Institute for National Unification, staff members of the Unification Education Institute, Kim Deok-hyun, Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, and other related officials. The event proceeded with commendations, a commemorative speech by the Director of the Korea Institute for National Unification, congratulatory remarks by the Mayor of Yeoncheon-gun, and celebratory performances.


In his commemorative speech, Ko Young-hwan, Director of the Korea Institute for National Unification, stated, “We will develop the Korean Peninsula Unification Future Center into a leading institution for ‘advanced field-oriented unification education’.”


First, as a ‘more exciting’ Center, it will develop and operate programs that incorporate the latest technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality), and AI (Artificial Intelligence) to vividly experience a bright unification future. Second, as a ‘Center open to everyone,’ it will simplify the training application process, consider students from remote areas, and promote various public open events.


He also emphasized that the Center will become ‘safer’ through the operation of advanced disaster prevention systems.


The Center operates 12 customized unification experience programs according to the participants and schedules as a specialized institution for unification experience training. Over the past 10 years since its opening, a total of approximately 260,000 elementary, middle, and high school students have participated in unification experience training.


A Center official said, "Going forward, based on the achievements and experiences of the past 10 years, the Center will strive to enhance the positive unification awareness of future generations through ‘advanced field-oriented unification education.’"
