Park Sangdon, the mayor of Cheonan, established an international cooperation system with global companies during his business trip to Europe.
According to the city on the 11th, Mayor Park signed a memorandum of understanding with Dassault Syst?mes, a leading French company in the 3D solutions sector, from the 4th to the 10th, and discussed ways to cooperate for the advancement of Cheonan as a smart city.
Under the agreement, the city plans to adopt Dassault Syst?mes’ technology to strengthen startups and foster local talent.
Previously, Jacques Beltran, Vice President of Dassault Syst?mes, visited the city last month to discuss global internship programs in collaboration with local universities in Cheonan and strategies for building a sustainable smart city.
In Spain, Mayor Park attended the World Smart City Expo, the world's largest smart city exhibition, where he explored smart city policies from various countries and global corporate pavilions to devise policy directions for Cheonan.
During the event, he met with Ugo Valenti, Chairman of the World Smart City Expo, to discuss ways to cooperate for Cheonan's leap into a global smart city.
He also held a meeting with Erica Lewis, Chair of Catapult, an innovation organization in the United Kingdom, to discuss ways to promote exchanges between companies. It was agreed that Catapult would visit Cheonan in February next year to discuss concrete plans.
Mayor Park said, "If Dassault Syst?mes’ excellent technology is applied to city administration, it will greatly help Cheonan advance as a global smart city," adding, "Through this agreement, we will take the lead in making Cheonan a global smart city that serves as a hub for building and expanding international cooperation systems."
