DeepMind Platform Completes Development of Small Bomb Drone... Pioneering New Paths in Defense Industry

DeepMind Platform Completes Development of Small Bomb Drone... Pioneering New Paths in Defense Industry Provided by DeepMind Platform.

DeepMind Platform (hereinafter DeepMind) announced on the 11th that it has completed the development of a Korean-style small bomb drone.

A DeepMind official stated, "The drone developed this time can attach and detach grenades during combat using a small drone," and added, "It is expected to be an important turning point that greatly enhances the combat power of a South Korean squad due to its low cost and high efficiency."

This drone is optimized for reconnaissance and bomb-dropping functions in special situations such as Korea's mountainous terrain and urban warfare, demonstrating excellent performance in squad-level operations. Currently, the South Korean military operates drones at corps and division levels, but drones usable by small units (battalion level) have not yet been deployed in actual combat. Accordingly, the Ministry of National Defense is pursuing the purchase of Polish-made small suicide drones while also working on the introduction of domestically produced suicide drones.

The small bomb drone developed by DeepMind is designed to attach and detach the millions of Korean-style grenades already supplied, which is expected to significantly enhance defense capabilities without consuming additional defense budget. In fact, the Ministry of National Defense and related agencies are promoting drone force enhancement through various measures.

An industry official explained, "Through actual warfare, drone forces have proven to be a game changer capable of striking expensive equipment at a low cost," adding, "They have become an indispensable essential force in modern warfare."

A commander of the Ukrainian Azov unit, which operates military drones directly in the war, mentioned, "Over the past two years, many improvements have been made in all aspects including drone tactics, explosive design, flight patterns, launch methods, and frequency using civilian-modified drones," and stated, "It has been proven that drones costing hundreds of thousands of won frequently take down tanks or armored vehicles worth tens of billions of won, and drones weighing around a few kilograms conduct reconnaissance and attacks over frontlines exceeding 10 km."

A company official said, "Along with the development of this small suicide drone, we have established the first basic rules for squad drone tactical operations in Korea," and added, "Based on this, we expect to expand drone operation training at low cost for 500,000 active-duty soldiers and 3 million reservists, and to pioneer export routes for combat drones."
